Xbox RPG Avowed Is Reportedly Getting Delayed to 2025

Xbox’s next big first-party game, the RPG Avowed by Obsidian Entertainment, is reportedly getting delayed until 2025. Here’s what you need to know.

Avowed is easily one of Xbox’s most anticipated games. Fans have been looking forward to it since its initial mysterious reveal. However, while many were expecting to play it later this year, it seems like the wait will continue. According to a recent report, Avowed is being pushed back until 2025.

Obsidian Entertainment’s Next Game, Avowed, Reportedly Delayed to 2025

Avowed, one of Xbox’s next big first-party games, has reportedly been delayed until early 2025. This is according to an article by The Verge. In the article, writer Tom Warren states (thanks, Klobrille) that while “Avowed is in good shape,” the delay is to “give the game breathing room.” Supposedly, this is to avoid what is shaping up to be a busy period for Xbox Game Pass, where Avowed is launching day one.

While the specific date Avowed has been pushed back to is yet to be revealed, this will come as a significant blow to fans. However, it’s not that surprising. A while back, Obsidian Entertainment accidentally let slip that Avowed was supposed to be released in November before quickly changing it to Fall. Then, recently, it was announced that Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl will be delayed to November 20, 2024. Chances are, Avowed was pushed back in order to avoid the two big first-party Xbox titles clashing.

Fortunately, we won’t be left in the dark for too long. Avowed will be shown off during Gamescom later this month, with a full live stream showcasing gameplay and more on Friday, August 23, 2024. Hopefully, all of our questions will be answered then. Are you surprised by Avowed’s delay? Let us know in the comments below.
