The First Descendant: How to Level Up Mastery Rank

Players can level up their Mastery Rank in The First Descendant, but, unfortunately, the game doesn’t make it clear how. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered.

It may be a little confusing to some players how the Mastery Rank system works in The First Descendant. After all, it’s not something you passively level up. Instead, you’ll need to go to a physical location and interact with something in order to get your level up. Fortunately, we’ve explained the entire process for you below.

How to Level Up Your Mastery Rank in The First Descendant

To level up your Mastery Rank in The First Descendant, you must first earn enough experience and then head to Albion. Travel to the Prime Hands located to the east of the hub area and use the Arche Factor Manipulator. Select the Mastery Rank Up option found at the bottom left to officially level up your Mastery Rank. It’s a complicated process that’s more hands-on than some fans may have been expecting. However, it’s fairly easy to do once you know where to go. Here’s a full breakdown of how to level up your Mastery Rank:

  • Earn enough experience by completing missions, beating bosses, and leveling up your Descendants
  • Head back to Albion
  • Travel to the Prime Hands location found in the east section of the map
  • Interact with the Arche Factor Manipulator
  • Hold the Mastery Rank Up option until you’ve leveled up

While leveling up your Mastery Rank is a hands-on process, earning the experience is a passive one. You’ll earn Mastery Rank experience points by simply playing the game, completing missions, defeating bosses, and leveling up your Descendants.
