Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town Coming to the West This October

Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town, the next slice-of-life game from developer Neos, has finally received its Western release date, and it’s coming this October.

Fans of Shin chan and the Boku no Natsuyasumi series likely rejoiced when a sequel to the much-loved Shin chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation -The Endless Seven-Day Journey was announced. Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town is a bigger title that promises a whole new area to explore. Fortunately, for those worried it would be a Japanese exclusive forever, it’s officially coming to the West. Below, we go over its specific release date, as well as how much it costs and pre-ordering the physical edition.

Shin Chan: Shiro and the Coal Town Is Releasing in the West

After a long wait, publisher Neos has finally announced that Shin Chan: Shiro and the Coal Town will be released in the West on October 24, 2024. Fans of the first game have known it was just a matter of time. Neos announced after the game’s initial reveal that it would eventually be released in the West. This will come just a few months after Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid, another Boku no Natsuyasumi spiritual successor, gets its Western debut later this month.

Much like the previous Shin chan game, players will get to explore a sleepy Japanese countryside village while getting up to all kinds of shenanigans. You’ll be able to fish, craft, hunt for bugs, and explore the mysterious Coal Town. This new region seems like a mix between the Spirited Away bathhouse and the world of Tekkonkinkreet. If you’ve played the previous game, you’ll know pretty much what to expect. Of course, if you haven’t, you can check out the trailer below.

Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town will cost $39.99 on the eShop. However, if you missed out on the previous game, Shin chan: Me and the Professor on Summer Vacation -The Endless Seven-Day Journey, then you can grab the bundle for just $49.99. It includes both games, giving you a huge discount on the first title. Additionally, a physical release of Shiro and the Coal Town will be released via Limited Run Games this Fall. However, a specific date of when it’s dropping is yet to be announced.
