The Pokemon Go: 8th Anniversary Party Event is right around the corner, and there’s much to celebrate and many rewards to earn.

Two Pokemon are making their debut during the Pokemon Go: 8th Anniversary Party Event, including Muk wearing a party hat and Grimer wearing a party hat in a standard and Shiny variation. In addition to opening the Mystery Box more frequently, players will also have a chance to encounter a Shiny Meltan. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming 8th Anniversary Party Event.

When is the Pokemon GO 8th Anniversary Party Event?

The Pokemon Go 8th Anniversary Party Event takes place from Friday, June 28, at 10:00 am to Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 8:00 pm local time.

This means those from New Zealand will have access to the 8th Anniversary Party Event for almost a complete day before those in the United States.

Event Bonuses

During the Pokemon Go 8th Anniversary Party Event, there will be many Event Bonuses for users to get excited about. Some bonuses will also only be available on certain days. Below, we list the Event Bonuses during the event.

Increased chance to become Lucky Friends.
Increased chance to get Lucky Pokemon in trades.
Friendship levels will increase faster than usual through opening Gifts, trading Pokemon, or battling together in raids, Gyms, or Trainer Battles!
Chance of finding 8 or 88 (possibly more) Gimmighoul Coins when you spin a PokeStop with a Golden Lure Module.

When Pokemon Go’s 8th Anniversary Party Event is live, the following event bonuses will become available for the dates below.

1/2 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator on these days.

June 30, 2024, at 12:00 am– July 1, 2024, at 11:59 pm local time

July 2, 2024, at 12:00 am – July 3, 2024, at 8:00 pm local time

2× Stardust for catching Pokemon.

Field Research Task Rewards

Event-themed Field Research tasks will be available to complete during the Pokemon Go 8th Anniversary Party Event. When completed, players can earn encounters with first-partner Pokemon, including favorites such as Bulbasaur, Cyndaquil, Mudkip, and more. A selection of Field Research tasks will also award Mega Energy for the Pokemon below.

Timed Research

Event-themed Timed Research will also be available to complete during the Pokemon Go 8th Anniversary Party Event. Players can complete tasks to earn XP, Stardust, and encounters with event-themed Pokemon, including Raticate wearing a party hat, Nidorino wearing a party hat, and more.

Paid Timed Research

Those who want to purchase Timed Research during the Pokemon Go 8th Anniversary Party Event can access event-exclusive Timed Research for USD$2.00 or local currency equivalent. However, it should be noted that Timed Research does expire, so players will need to complete the associated tasks and claim their rewards before Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 8:00 pm local time. Some event tasks include spinning eight PokeStops or evolving eight Pokemon to receive the following rewards.

An encounter with Meltan

Whispers in the Woods

Players will be able to gain a Masterwork Research story named Whispers in the Woods for USD$5.00 or local currency equivalent during the Pokemon Go 8th Anniversary Party Event. This will then lead players to an encounter with Shiny Celebi. Tickets for Whispers in the Woods will be available to purchase until Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 8:00 pm local time. However, those who have completed the previous Distracted by Something Shiny Special Research story will unfortunately not have the opportunity to purchase this specific Masterwork Research story.

Shiny Celebi is now returning as part of the 8th Anniversary Party Event in the Masterwork Research story. Those who decide to purchase it will have specific research activities to complete over a period of time. Players must open Pokemon Go between Friday, June 28, at 10:00 am and Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 8:00 pm local time to gain the Masterwork Research story. After this, it can be completed at any time. Additionally, users who have purchased this Masterwork Research story or previously purchased the Distracted by Something Shiny Special Research story will gain the following bonuses.

2× Lucky Egg duration

Pokemon Go Web Store Anniversary Box

The Pokemon Go Web Store is celebrating the Pokemon Go 8th Anniversary Party Event with the Anniversary Box. For US$4.99 or local currency equivalent, the box includes three Remote Raid Passes, one incubator, and three Premium Battle Passes. Users with Pokemon Trainer Club accounts can also log into the Pokemon Go Web Store with the same credentials used to log in to Pokemon Go.

New Avatar Items

Players will also have the opportunity to purchase a handful of Avatar items in the in-game shop during the 8th Anniversary Party Event. This includes jackets, pants, and hats. Below is what will be included in the in-game shop.
