Next Valve Title “Deadlock” Leaks Online

Valve’s next upcoming title, “Deadlock,” has been leaked and features elements from many well-known shooters.

This year has seen the resurgence of hero shooters, with Overwatch competing with the recent Marvel Rivals and other major shooters. Now, leaks of Valves’ next game, “Deadlock,” have emerged online and feature similar elements to many popular games and shooters on the market. When Deadlock releases, Overwatch, Marvel Rivals, Valorant, and other hero shooters will need to watch out.

What Is Valve’s Game Deadlock?

According to leaker Gabe Follower, Deadlock has been revealed to be a fast-paced, competitive, third-person hero-based shooter. It features tower defense mechanics, usable abilities, and 6 vs. 6 gameplay on a massive map with four distinct lanes. Players will have the option to fast-travel around the map itself using floating rails found throughout. Deadlock is set in a fantasy and steampunk-mixed world where the main map looks to be in a modern steampunk European city and will include magicians, weird creatures, and robots.

Deadlock has also been inspired by several well-known games in the community, combining many elements to make the upcoming game stand out amongst the other hero-shooters out there. Some games Deadlock resembles include Bioshock Infinite, Dota 2, Team Fortress 2, Overwatch, Valorant, Smite, and Orcs Must Die. Additionally, Valve has allegedly invited competitive YouTubers to play Deadlock under a strict NDA.

Originally, Deadlock had many sci-fi elements, similar to Half-Life and Portal; however, due to negative feedback, they decided to focus the majority on fantasy. The hero design for Deadlock has also been leaked, and it seems to resemble the style from the Dota universe. Although Deadlock has used a lot of inspiration from several different games, players are worried that the upcoming hero shooter may be too cartoon-like in style. This is because many games adopt a similar style to other successful hero shooters, namely Overwatch. This results in many games on the market feeling too similar to others in the genre.

When Is Deadlock Releasing?

There is currently no confirmed information from Valve or leaks on when Deadlock will launch or what platforms it will be featured on. However, Tyler McVicker shared that Deadlock is currently in Closed Alpha, where hundreds of people are playing. Originally, only friends and family of Valve employees were invited to play the Closed Alpha. However, it has now allegedly been outsourced to people outside of Valve. So, it’s possible we’ll see an official announcement for Deadlock soon.

Of course, everyone should take this information with a grain of salt, like with any other leaks. That’s everything you need to know about Valve’s leaked next game. Will you be playing it day one?
