MultiVersus: How to Fix Being Stuck on the Authenticating Screen

Players stuck on the “Authenticating” screen in MultiVersus are getting understandably frustrated. Fortunately, here are some fixes that can help.

When you boot up MultiVersus, you’ll need to authenticate the game in order to connect to the servers. You’ll see this screen come and go pretty quickly on a typical day. However, recently, players have been finding they’re seeing a little too much of this screen. If you’ve suffered from being stuck on the “Authenticating” screen, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered with the fixes below.

How to Fix Being Stuck on “Authenticating” in MultiVersus

The only real fix for being stuck on the “Authenticating” screen in MultiVersus is to wait for the server issues to end. This error typically occurs in most online-only multiplayer games at launch, and, unfortunately, MultiVersus is no exception. Usually, just waiting a handful of minutes will do the trick. However, there are a handful of other solutions you can try to attempt to fix this problem:

  • Wait it out – We found that it finally let us in after being stuck on the “Authenticating” screen after a few minutes. However, if it hasn’t after around 5 minutes, we recommend trying the other options.
  • Restart the game – Yep, we know. We’ve heard it a million times before. However, there’s a reason they tell you to turn it off and on again. Restarting can help refresh the game and let you back in.
  • Check your internet connection – It’s almost certainly not that your internet is down, but it doesn’t hurt to check. It’s important to make sure that you’re connected and that your connection is stable.
  • Check for updates – Most updates are set to automatic. However, it doesn’t hurt to double-check that you’re playing the most up-to-date version of MultiVersus.
  • Verify your game files – This only works on PC, but verifying the integrity of your game files is always important. If you’ve gotten to this point, it’s probably best to try playing something else for a while and wait for the servers to sort themselves out.

In the future, it pays to check the Warner Bros. Games Support X account as well as the official MultiVersus X account. Both of these will report if there are any server issues. Outside of that, being stuck on the “Authenticating” screen in MultiVersus will almost certainly be patched out soon. For now, that’s everything you can do to fix this issue.
