DOOM: The Dark Ages brings a medieval spin on the hell-slaying series, and both consoles and PCs can expect to see it in 2025.
After several rumors about the game were released, Bethesda and id Software finally gave players a look at DOOM: The Dark Ages during the Xbox Games Showcase. Fans can finally rejoice as we’re finally getting another entry into the iconic series. However, this time, it has a medieval twist. Additionally, the game will not just be an Xbox exclusive, as both PC and PlayStation 5 will be experiencing the newest game with the DOOM Slayer as well.
DOOM: The Dark Ages Brings Medieval Demon Slaying Action
DOOM: The Dark Ages is transporting players into a prequel setting for the series taking place before both DOOM and DOOM Eternal. However, the fast-paced, first-person shooter is not losing any of its charm. In fact, the game looks to have gained even more from what we’ve seen in its first trailer. Players will be utilizing guns and melee weapons to destroy the hordes of demons in their way. Furthermore, the heavy metal soundtrack will return to help keep the adrenaline pumping while quickly dispatching enemy after enemy.
When it comes to the iconic protagonist, DOOM Slayer or DOOM Guy (as some would prefer), he is making an obvious return. This time, though, it is in some slick new threads. Rather than just the typical suit, the Slayer is brandishing an impressive cape to go with the medieval theme. Furthermore, his arsenal looks to bring some unique tools to this outing. Players will be using a shield with sawblades in their encounters. Additionally, a gun that uses demon skulls for ammo is making an appearance. Yep, you read that right. Players who want some old-style weapons can look forward to a double-barrel shotgun, which looks very close to the Super Shotgun.
While we don’t have full story details, players will be fighting a medieval war against Hell, although not on Earth. It seems that some of the story is going to take place in Argent D’Nur. This is the world where the Slayer was granted his powers as a Sentinel. Of course, what we do know is that he will be unleashing his rage on the demonic hordes, and players will be along for the ride when it drops in 2025. What do you think of DOOM: The Dark Ages?
