Fireteams have been grinding continuously to finish the Salvation’s Edge Raid in Destiny 2: The Final Shape. Fortunately, they’ve finally beaten it, and now the final campaign mission, Excision, has been unlocked. However, players wanting to jump into it will first need to follow a series of steps and find the marker to start it. Fortunately, we have you covered below on how to get into the Excision mission in Destiny 2: The Final Shape.
How to Unlock the Excision Mission in Destiny 2: The Final Shape
Players need to finish some prerequisites, such as completing the Final Shape campaign. Additionally, players need to complete an extra quest to be granted access to Excision. After which, they will be able to load up into Excision, which is a 12-man activity to ultimately defeat The Witness. Below are the prerequisites needed to be done to unlock Excision in Destiny 2: The Final Shape:
- Complete the Final Shape campaign on Normal or Legendary difficulty.
- Start the Destined Heroes quest.
- Complete the Queens Part 1 adventure mission.
- Complete the Wild Card exotic quest.
Once players have completed the above steps, the Excision mission will become available to queue into. The process can take a bit of time to complete, especially if you progress through the campaign on Legendary. However, the subsequent quests and the adventure mission can be done much faster, especially if you bring additional Fireteam members.

How to Find the Excision Mission in Destiny 2: The Final Shape
Players can find the Exicison mission marker in the top right of The Pale Heart map area. It does not appear right on the screen; players must scroll up to the right to find it. It is identifiable not just by its name but also by the player limit of 12. Excision is the first and only mission in the Destiny series to feature 12-person activity. It is an epic conclusion to over ten years of story-building from Bungie. Furthermore, it is highly recommended that players complete this mission. It provides great closure to much of the story and has an amazing set of cutscenes to see.
