Players wanting the exotic Khvostov auto rifle in Destiny 2: The Final Shape, unfortunately, need to wait for a fix as it is currently bugged.
The Khvostov auto rifle in Destiny 2: The Final Shape is something many players want. The weapon makes a return in the newest expansion in the highest-tier, exotic form. Many are finishing or have completed the last mission in the campaign. Because of this, players have set their sights on getting the gun. However, complications with obtaining the Khvostov have arisen, and players need to wait for a fix to the quest.
The Khvostov Quest is Currently Unavailable to Finish in Destiny 2: The Final Shape
In the quest to get the Khvostov auto rifle, after players obtain the legendary version (which they still can), they can get the exotic. The next segment requires players to earn 17 Motes of Light to turn into a Mote of Primordial Light. Nine of the Motes are earned from defeating all nine Overthrow bosses in The Pale Heart. Furthermore, players need to earn eight more from hidden Visions of the Travler collectables.
However, only eight of the bosses in the Overthrow activity are currently spawning. The missing enemy boss in The Blooming, called Koftiks, was removed by Bungie. Bungie explained that it was removed as, after defeating Koftiks, all of the Motes of Light in a player’s inventory are removed. So, now the enemy does not spawn, and players cannot defeat it for the final Mote of Light.
It remains to be seen whether the bug will be fixed during Destiny 2’s weekly reset. The situation is unfortunate, especially as many were excited to get the Khvostov. There is also the possibility that Bungie may even reward players with the Mote of Light to make up for the bug. However, this is not confirmed and is speculation. Players curious can log into Destiny 2 at 10 am PDT/ 1 pm EDT/ 6 pm BST/ 3 am AEST (June 12) once the downtime is up.
