How to Unlock the Lantern in Animal Well
To unlock the Lantern in Animal Well, players must light all four Animal Statue flames. This will unlock a new area in the south of the map where the Lantern is in a chest. Once you’ve lit all four flames, head down from the chamber with the four Animal Statues. Continue heading south until you reach a red-colored room with the shadow monsters. When you drop down from the ladder into the room, immediately equip the Bubble Wand and create platforms allowing you to jump up to the right. There is another ladder here; climb up it into the next area.
Players should be careful with the shadow monsters, as they are hard to keep track of and deal damage very easily. Additionally, there are many of them in this room, so be quick when getting out of the room. Upon arriving in the next area, take a right, and you will transition to another room. In this chamber, a chest is in front of you. Inside the chest is the Lantern. The correct room is easily identifiable as there is a Telephone Save on the right side of the room.
What is the Lantern Used For in Animal Well?
The Lantern can illuminate dark areas for players, ward off ghosts, and safely traverse Blue Ghost areas. It mostly serves the same purposes as the Firecracker. However, the added benefit of the Lantern is that it doesn’t have consumable uses like the Firecracker. The latter only has three uses before players need to find more, unlike the Lantern, which can be used indefinitely.
Furthermore, the ability to pass through Blue Ghost areas safely is a great bonus. The game has various rooms where Blue Ghosts lurk and can be pesky to ward off. However, by having the Lantern handy, you can walk straight through without risk of being hurt. So, it’s definitely worth getting your hands on the Lantern, even if you won’t get it until the end of the game.
