The First Descendant: How to Level Up Weapons & What Is the Max Weapon Level?

Players can max out their weapons’ levels in The First Descendant to make them as powerful as possible. But how do you level up your guns and what is the max weapon level?

There are several aspects of your character that you can level up in The First Descendant. Much like your Mastery Rank and Descendant level, players can reach a level cap with their weapons. Knowing just how much you’ll need to grind a weapon can help you decide if the investment is worth it. Fortunately, we’ve broken down exactly what the maximum level cap is for all weapons and how you level them up.

The First Descendant Max Weapon Level

There are two levels for weapons in The First Descendant: Proficiency level and Weapon level. The max Proficiency level for all weapons is 30. Currently, the maximum Weapon level is 36. Your Proficiency level is based on how much you use that weapon and will level up naturally by killing enemies. The higher the Proficiency level, the more modules you’ll be able to equip to that gun, making it more powerful.

Your Weapon level, on the other hand, determines how much damage your weapon does. The higher it is, the greater its overall stats will be. However, leveling up your Weapon level is a little trickier, as it requires you to get your hands on a specific item.

How to Level Up Weapons in The First Descendant

To level up a weapon in The First Descendant, you must first research a Phase Exchanger by using Superalloy and Gold. Then, head to a workbench, select Weapon Level Transmission, pick the weapon you want to level up and your weapon with the highest level, and hold down the Weapon Level Transmission button at the bottom right. This will then make the weapon you want to level up the same level as the other weapon you chose. Don’t worry; it’s not a complicated process despite its many steps. We’ve broken it down for you below to make it as simple as possible:

  • Head to Anais in Albion
  • Research a Phase Exchanger
    • This requires Superalloys and Gold. You can get Liquid Metal by dismantling weapons
  • Head to the nearest workbench
    • There is one just outside of where you find Anais
  • Select Weapon Level Transmission
  • Pick the weapon that you want to level up
  • Pick your weapon with the highest level
  • Hold down the Weapon Level Transmission button at the bottom right corner
  • Your weapon will have leveled up
Phase Exchanger in The First Descendant

Phase Exchangers require 50 Superalloy and 2,500 Gold to be researched. It will take 10 minutes for them to be completed. However, there is an option to craft 4 at once for 200 Superalloy and 10,000 Gold. You’ll need a regular Phase Exchanger for Common and Rare weapons and then a Precision Phase Exchanger for anything above, such as Ultimate weapons.
