The Banana game is blowing up on Steam, with many players hopping into it. But what is it, and why are so many trying it?
Many quirky and interesting games appear on Steam every day. However, the recent emergence of a free-to-play Banana game on Steam shows that even the oddest titles can become popular.
What is “Banana” on Steam?
On Steam, Banana is a simple title. Players click on a Banana to gain more Bananas. Yes, it is that straightforward. However, players can obtain varying Bananas that look different than your average banana, and by acquiring one of these different Bananas, you can sell them to others on Steam for real money. It is an odd mechanic for a game, but relatively unique.
Every 3 and 18 hours, a new Banana drops that players can keep clicking on to add to their collection. Furthermore, the game’s Discord community also actively contributes Bananas.
Players looking to join the game can download it from its official Steam page. Also, there is currently a limited-time event where players can earn a free, legendary Banana every day for the next 69 days. They are mysterious, so be sure to head onto the game to see what you get.

Why Are So Many Playing Banana?
Over 900,000 players were playing Banana on Steam, according to SteamDB. While there is no definitive answer as to why so many are playing the game, it could be due to the simple mechanics of clicking a banana and receiving a dopamine hit from seeing how high the number rises. However, as previously mentioned, players can also sell unique Bananas, which provides an incentive to try and earn a legendary banana to sell it. So it stands to reason that striving to collect these different-looking Bananas is one such reason as to why so many are currently in-game.
Banana on Steam is massive right now and just goes to show that even the simplest concepts can be big hits. Have you gotten a chance to play Banana on Steam yet? Let us know in our comments section below.
