You might be looking to take down the tough foes in Elden Ring in co-op multiplayer, and here are all the details you need to do it.
If you want to conquer the main game of Elden Ring and the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion with partners, you’re in luck. FromSoftware gives players the ability to play through most of their titles cooperatively. Elden Ring has a massive world with harsh enemies, and some players want to experience it with others. The process of playing co-op in Elden Ring isn’t too complex, and we have the details on how to do so.
How to Play Co-op in Elden Ring
To play co-op in Elden Ring, you will need to craft a Furlcalling Finger Remedy and a Small Golden Effigy. Players can play as long as they are in the same console family. So, make sure to do this before starting up a co-op session. Here are the steps to start a co-op session in Elden Ring:
- Once you log in to Elden Ring and are in the game, go to the menu and select “Multiplayer” near the bottom. Next, go to “Settings” and choose a password for you and your co-op partners to use. Be sure it matches so that you can summon the other players.
- Collect the Small Golden Effigy, which can be found after you leave the Stranded Graveyard.
- Interact with the nearest Effigy of the Martyr; they appear as tiny statues with half rings on them.
- Craft a Furlcalling Finger Remedy in the “Item Crafting” section; they are made with two Erdleaf Flowers, which can be plucked from around the map. The flowers appear as shiny golden-orange buds on the top.
- Once all of the above is done, have players use the Small Golden Effigy to put down their Summon Sign if you are summoning to your world. Click on it to summon them in.
Players should note that if you defeat the boss in your area, you cannot summon the co-op partner until you move to a different area. For example, if you defeat Godrick at Stormveil Castle, you must move to Caelid or Liurnia of the Lakes. Furthermore, if you summon in the various Catacombs dungeons, the partner will disappear, and you must resummon them outside of the dungeon.

How Many Players Can You Have in Co-op for Elden Ring?
Your co-op session for Elden Ring can have a total of three players: the host player and two additional co-op partners. This amount is a standard for many FromSoftware titles, including the Dark Souls series and Bloodborne. The extra players are referred to as Phantoms, and if they die in a host’s world, they do not lose their runes. The co-op partners are meant to help the player out in challenging areas. Therefore, there is no risk of joining co-op worlds as a Phantom. However, players need to remember that the boss’s health does scale. This means that the more players in a session, the more health a boss has, to make it more fair.
