Marvel Rivals: All Confirmed Game Modes

Marvel Rivals has a number of game modes for players to choose from. Here is a complete list of all the confirmed game modes so far.

A hero shooter is only as good as its characters and game modes. Fortunately, Marvel Rivals has a huge roster of amazing characters to choose from. So, developer NetEase has to put a lot of work in to make sure the game modes surrounding those characters live up to the expectation. Below, we’ve explained what each game mode in Marvel Rivals is, as well as all the game types you’ll be playing.

Every Game Mode in Marvel Rivals

There are currently five game modes in Marvel Rivals. Players got to experience these game modes during the Closed Alpha, which ran between May 10 and May 21. Of course, more game modes are expected to be added both before and after the game’s official launch. However, for now, these are the game modes that are confirmed to be in Marvel Rivals:

  • Tutorial: This allows players to understand the core mechanics and try out a handful of characters.
  • Quick Match: This is an Unranked mode in which players are thrown into a random map and game type. Perfect for those who just want to play a game or two.
  • Competitive: This is the Ranked mode, in which players compete to get as high of a score as possible and climb the leaderboards.
  • Pocket Universe: This is Marvel Rivals’ unique mode that sees players try to defeat as many enemies as possible while respawning at flexible respawn points.
  • Custom: This allows players to set up their own private matches and play against bots. You can play in any game type in this mode.

Every Game Type in Marvel Rivals

There are currently three game types in Marvel Rivals. These range from transferring a payload to holding control points. There aren’t currently any unique game types that you haven’t seen in other hero shooters, or just multiplayer shooters, for that matter. Once again, we absolutely expect more game types to be added pre and post-launch. Below are all of the currently confirmed game types in Marvel Rivals:

  • Convoy: This sees one team attempt to get a payload from one end of the map to the other, while the opposing team attempts to stop them. It is similar to Escort from Overwatch.
  • Domination: This sees players attempt to capture and hold several control points that are scattered across the map. It is similar to the Call of Duty game type of the same name.
  • Convergence: This sees players attempt to take a single control point that moves after a set amount of time. It is similar to the Call of Duty game type, King-of-the-Hill.

Unfortunately, no PvE mode has been announced as of yet. All of the game modes in Marvel Rivals are PvP, although you can play against bots in the Custom Matches mode. That is all of the game modes in Marvel Rivals. For more guides just like this one, be sure to check out our Guide Hub.
