WizardPunk - Feature Image

Developed and published by Keith Thomas, WizardPunk, the spell-based fighting game with rogue-lite elements is set to release into Steam Early Access this September.

WizardPunk is developer Keith Thomas’ debut title on Steam. It is launching into Steam Early Access in September 2021, with the goal of remaining there for “about six months”. Currently, the game contains an endless adventure mode as well as three unlockable characters and various spells to use. According to the game’s Steam store page, the reason it is being released into Early Access is that “It’s a good way for [the developer] to make sure the game isn’t awful when it is released for real “. Additionally, the developer believes “a game is best when partially designed by the players.”

What Is WizardPunk?

WizardPunk is a spell-based fighting game that features some rogue-lite elements. Players will engage in physics-based spell combat across either the endless Adventure mode or the 1 v 1 Versus mode. While the Versus mode features your more traditional fighting fare, the Adventure mode allows for a far greater RPG experience. Players can join one of two guilds that offer various different perks, and come toe to toe with their opposing guild members. With more than 1000 possible spell combinations, it would seem like there is set to be endless content should spell-based fighting seem like your kind of thing.
