Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s limited-time “The Haunting of Verdansk” event begins on October 20, affecting both multiplayer and Warzone. The event includes Haunted Verdansk (night map), a zombie royale mode, new trick-or-treat rewards, and various themed multiplayer changes.
Earlier today, a trailer was released by Activision and Infinity Ward which featured new spooky costumes. Billy the Puppet (Saw) and Leatherface (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) will be available as skins in the store. As well as Halloween variants of other operators.
A lot of people have been asking for it and finally, a nighttime variant of Verdansk will be coming to Warzone. Certain game modes will be available to play at night and there will also be some environmental changes too.
According to a blog post on the Call of Duty website, “Some say that a ventriloquist doll frequently appears on television sets tuned to defunct channels, and the poltergeist of a chainsaw-wielding killer can be seen and heard across the Krovnik Farmland. Others claim that the defunct tracks near the Train Station are still in use by a ghost train, a vessel filled with souls of those who lost their lives fighting in the Gulag…”
Gulag will be removed in the Zombie Royale limited-time mode. Players will return as a zombie instead to haunt their enemies. No weapons can be used while you’re a zombie, but you will have increased speed, improved jumps, deadlier melee attacks, and thermal vision. Players will need to collect two syringes from killing players in order to return to the land of the living.
Haunting of Verdansk will feature a Trick-or-Treat reward system. Supply Boxes will be coming to the game and will contain “frights or blueprints and personalization items.” Players can earn up to 16 rewards before the event ends. We will have to wait and see what the “frights” include when the update is out on October 20.
Multiplayer
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s multiplayer is also getting a Halloween update to accompany Warzone. Across all game modes, players who earn three kills without dying will have their heads transform into jack-o-lanterns. If a player was to reach 10 kills in a single life, the pumpkin will be lit on fire.
Some other spooky changes will be happening as well: scarecrows instead of flags on Domination points, skulls in place of dog tags in Kill Confirmed, and other strictly visual effects themed around Halloween.
There will also be two new modes coming to multiplayer.
Onslaughter
Each team will fight for control of a juggernaut suit which spawns somewhere on the map. Using the suit and plenty of minigun fire, the team will need to push forward to a goal area. But you will need to be quick when a suit is available or you might miss out.
Snipers Only
A Team Deathmatch variant with pre-built sniper loadouts. No custom loadouts can be used in this new mode.
Warzone’s Halloween event starts on October 20 and lasts until November 3.
