The Unexpected Quest, developed by Rionix, is releasing today on the Nintendo Switch for £13.49.
The Unexpected Quest is a lush-looking fantasy game that combines a dash of settlement building with a whole heap of adventure as you lead a band of dwarves across treacherous lands! You’ll visit quaint little villages, snow-capped mountaintops, impenetrable forests, and foul-smelling swamps, which reminds me just a tad of a little-known fantasy series, Lord of the Rings.
You’ll have to take on missions, build your army to fight and conquer, and explore the unknown and mysterious lands before you. But while all the adventuring is going on, why not sit back, relax, and do a little bit of settlement building? You can gather resources to progress through each area, construct buildings to better help your settlement, and help those in need, all while hunting for that glorious treasure.
This game is for all! The younglings can enjoy it at their own leisure, but even hardcore RTS fans will find something satisfying about the game’s core gameplay loop! Its cartoony visual style draws inspiration from classics such as Warcraft 3 and The Settlers, and it is incredibly appealing. There are loads of little details in each environment and fun animations to see as you’re off adventuring.
