Media tie-ins are all the rage right now, and The Sandbox is no exception. The open-world sandbox game has partnered with Ubisoft to bring Rabbids to their world. Yes, that’s right. Rabbids – those mischievous mammals from the Rayman video game series have entered the metaverse. The Rabbids are one of what will be many new tie-ins stemming from the new partnership.
What is The Sandbox?
The Sandbox is an open world sandbox game, where users can basically do whatever they want, whenever they want. Part amusement park, part virtual real estate, the game is tied into the Etherium blockchain. Therefore users can use cryptocurrencies to buy their own land, to really make the place feel like home. The Sandbox has previously teamed up with such A-listers as Snoop Dogg, Deadmau5, and even the Smurfs.
Their latest partnership will see Ubisoft create their own LAND entertainment destination with interactive experiences for players. Voxel characters and items will also be available for players and creators, so they can create and play as they please. These creations can then be incorporated into their own experiences, using The Sandbox‘s free VoxEdit and Game maker #nocode creation tools.
Work has already begun to bring the Rabbids’ characters and items into The Sandbox, using the VoxEdit feature. As a wee treat, they’ve already given us a glimpse of the Rabbids eagerly awaiting entry into The Sandbox.
