The game that started the series in 1990, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, is finally being localized with an English version arriving on the Nintendo Switch on December 4.
The game will be available as a digital download for just $US6 (AU$8). There will also be a special 30th Anniversary edition of the game for $US50 (AU$70). This comes with a replica box, game cartridge, game manual, map, and an art book.
Unfortunately, there is once again a catch. Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, like the Mario games before this, will only be available for a limited amount of time. You will have to buy the game digitally before March 31, 2021, in order to secure yourself a copy.
Originally released exclusively to Japan in 1990, the Fire Emblem series has won the hearts of fans around the world. There are currently 16 games in the series, three of which have been remakes. But it was not until the seventh game in the series, Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade (or Fire Emblem in the West), that fans outside of Japan finally got a chance to play JRPG series. Before this, the only place you could find the characters of Fire Emblem, Marth and Roy, was in Super Smash Bros.
Hopefully, with the introduction of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, the rest of the series follows suit, and we get to play out the story of Fire Emblem localised for the first time.
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light is available to digitally download on December 4, and will run for a limited time until March 31, 2021.
