Old School Runescape has hit record highs on Sunday with over 170,000 players online at the same time. Not to be confused with its modern counterpart, Old School Runescape was released on 22 February 2013, and was based on an August 2007 build of RuneScape.
The latest league, Leagues II – Trailblazer, seems to be the reason behind the success. Trailblazer is a seasonal variant where players start a new character, limited to specific rules. This time, players are confined to ironman accounts which means no trading, no XP handouts and no shared loot drops. Players must be entirely self-sufficient while also being initially locked to the region of Misthalin (Lumbridge to Varrock).
Upon starting, you will complete a short tutorial to get familiar with the new a HUD as well as unlock Karamja. Following this, you’re ready to take on the challenge. Completing tasks will let you unlock new areas, and it will also give you league points. These points are used to acquire relics, which unlock powerful buffs to help you along the way.
The new league began a few days ago on Wednesday, October 28 and will run until January 6, giving you plenty of time to get involved.
