Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 lets you play as both of the dual protagonists and even a handful of side characters, but do you get to play as Venom?
Venom has been a key focus of the promotional material for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, with the hulking creature being portrayed as one of the game’s central villains. However, considering you not only get to play as some side characters, including MJ, and that Peter wears the Symbiote Suit for much of the game, can you also play as Venom?
This article contains spoilers for the end of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Can You Play As Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?
Yes, you do get to play as Venom for a short period of time during the end of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. You’ll get to play as the full version of the villainous character, but when he’s controlling Harry and not Peter. The sequence lasts around 5 minutes and sees you break out of Oscorp tower while taking down Oscorp goons. It occurs during the ending of the game after Venom has completely consumed Harry, just shortly before the final mission of the game. During the sequence, Venom has two unique abilities as well as a powerful jump. You can see him in action in the screenshot below:
Of course, you technically get to play as Venom for much longer, as Peter’s Symbiote Suit that is unlocked around halfway through the game is Venom, albeit in a much weaker form. Peter unlocks a series of Symbiote powers to go along with the Suit, which are very similar to Venom’s abilities at the end of the game. However, this is, of course, not the same as the iconic Venom that fans will recognize from the comics.
There are plenty of other villains that you’ll come up across during your time with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, so make sure to check them out, too. Additionally, you can check out our Games Hub to find all of our other guides, news, and review on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
