Hell Let Loose Leaves Early Access And Adds New Maps & Soviet Forces

Publisher Team17 and developer Black Matter have announced that the incredibly popular World War II strategic squad shooter, Hell Let Loose has left Steam Early Access.

Hell Let Loose was originally released into Steam Early Access back in June of 2019. Since then it has seen a huge boon of success over the past few years. It currently sits at an 85% positive score across 29,095 reviews on Steam. PCGamesN gave it a 9 out of 10 in their review, and the game sits comfortably at 85% on OpenCritic. Hell Let Loose was praised for its attention to detail and realism, as well as its 50 vs. 50 battles. Now that it has left Early Access it brings with it years worth of updates and improvements. Additionally, the latest update adds brand new maps and a whole slew of new features. Studio Head and Lead Designer at Black Matter, Max Rea, spoke about the journey that Hell Let Loose has gone on over the past few years.

He went on to say that just because it is leaving Early Access it doesn’t mean that there are no future plans. In fact, according to Rea “today doesn’t mark the end of the road […] we have big plans to continue building Hell Let Loose“.

What Is Hell Let Loose?

Hell Let Loose is a first-person shooter online World War II strategic squad shooter. It puts the player directly in some of the “most important and notorious battles on both the Western and Eastern Fronts of the war”. It features huge 50 vs. 50 battles set across 11 unique maps from Utah to Stalingrad. The latest update adds two additional maps set in Kursk and Stalingrad. Additionally, it adds more than 20 new weapons and gadgets, four new vehicles as well as Soviet forces. Here’s some of what you can expect in Hell Let Loose:

  • Play across two distinct modes, Offensive and Warfare, as you fight to take control of the Western and Eastern Fronts
  • Fight alongside 50 other players in huge battles broken down into armour, infantry and recon
  • Take on one of the fourteen roles available to players including anything from engineers, snipers and tank crewmen to medics and support
  • Watch as the frontline shifts back and forth and builds up the game’s real-time strategy inspired metagame
