Ghost Of Tsushima Director’s Cut & DLC Announced For PS4/5

PlayStation has announced via a blog post that a Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will be releasing alongside a brand new DLC this August.

Ghost of Tsushima took the world by storm when it launched last year. Upon release it scored rave reviews, garnering a 9/10 from IGN and 83% on Metacritic. In March of this year, it was announced that it had sold well over 6.5 million copies. All of this success could only mean one thing: more content was on its way. With rumours circulating around a supposed DLC titled Ghost of Ikishima, PlayStation was bound to announce it soon. Well, it is now official as PlayStation has announced in a blog post that a Director’s Cut and new DLC are on their way.

What Is The Ghost Of Tsushima Director’s Cut?

The Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is essentially the complete edition of the game. It is releasing on both the PlayStation 4 and 5, with both an option to upgrade digitally or buy it physically.

The Iki Island Expansion

The main feature being brought to the table is the Iki island expansion which will launch simultaneously with the Director’s Cut. It will bring Jin, the protagonist of the base game, to the island of Iki, a neighbouring island of Tsushima. It sounds as if the DLC will be packed with new content, so we’ve listed below everything they’ve confirmed so far:

  • A brand new story
  • New characters
  • A whole new island to explore
  • Armour for both Jin and his horse
  • Mini-games
  • Techniques
  • Enemy types
  • “Much more”

It sounds as if there will be new variations of the content found in the base game. So, for those who have platinumed the base game or even just played it to death at this point, the Iki island expansion will likely freshen up your experience. They’ve also confirmed that there will be new trophies for the Iki island expansion.

PS5 Exclusive Features

Thanks to the capabilities of the PlayStation 5, the Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut will include exclusive features for the console. These include:

  • Proper lip-synching for the Japanese voice over
  • It will take advantage of haptic feedback and adaptive triggers
  • Enhancements to 3D audio
  • “Drastically” improved load times
  • 4K resolution options and framerates targeting 60 FPS

It is worth noting that you will be able to transfer your progress between the PlayStation 4 version and the PlayStation 5 version.

General Updates

There will be a patch launching alongside the Director’s Cut version which will improve various facets of the game based on player feedback. These improvements include target lock-on in combat, the ability to hide your quiver, and accessibility options for controller layout. There will also be updates to the multiplayer mode Legends. This includes a whole new mode, although there aren’t any details on that just yet.
