Do Not Buy This Game: Strange Yet Worth Buying – Demo Preview

Do Not Buy This Game features at the 2021 edition of LudoNarraCon, and it is easily one of the strangest games I have ever played.

Do Not Buy This Game begins with no menu. You are quite literally thrown straight into the game with no help on how to play. The game forces you to repeat things with the intention that you quit the game. Even the pause menu warns you not to buy the game and will “delete your save” if you exit.

The goal in Do Not Buy This Game is to reach the red button and press it. It sounds very simple, and, in practice, it is. However, you are thrown off course countless times, completing several humourous tests along the way. All the while, you listen to the “creator” speak to you.

“You get to push that big red button at the end of the demo.”

At first, I thought the narration felt a little forced. Although, the longer I played, the more it grew on me. His jokes started to land with how ridiculous the game became, and I couldn’t help but grin as I played along. You even find out some of the developer’s deep dark secrets.

Do Not Buy This Game is an incredibly unique game that actively pushes you in the direction of exiting the game. However, under the surface, the game is polished and unpredictable. You never know what is going to happen next. The demo only lasts for about 20 minutes, and I assure you, this game will give you a reason to smile, especially when you get to push that big red button at the end of the demo.

Be sure to head on over to Do Not Buy This Game’s Steam store page to try the demo out for yourself. You can also wishlist it on Steam to be notified of any future updates.
